Judges Comments
Congratulations to everyone on your brilliant science displays at the Cairns Show. I was entrusted with the extremely difficult job of judging all your efforts and if I could have, I would have made everyone winners.
First place went to Caravonica State School whose display efforts were extraordinary. Beautifully presented explanations of the experiments with food colours, milk and detergent and tests to see what substances cause iron wool to rust the fastest among many others( Pictured Right - Presentation of awards to Caravonica State School)
Joint first place went to Trinity Bay High school's written reports of experiments on stain removal and mangroves. Your research skills are fantastic.( Pictured Right - Presentation of awards to Trinity Bay Students)
I also awarded a Highly Commended to Woree Primary School for their experiments with trebuchets. Looks like you had lots of fun!
But I also wanted to give say congratulations to Yarrabah State School and Tagai State College for putting together beautiful displays of all the fun experiments you did with corn flour and baking soda and vinegar and balloons and colours. The photos looked fantastic. Lots of smiles and fascinating things happening.
It was really great to meet so many of you this week so thank you for making me feel so welcome in sunny, warm, beautiful Far North Queensland! And don't forget, study hard, play harder and most of all, HAVE FUN!!!
Cheers,
Ruben
