Scooping a prize pool valued in excess of $5,000, Melissa Anne Soper was crowned 2009 Cairns Show Miss Show Girl during the presentation Cocktail Party held at the Show Ground on July 8. Melissa went on to take the title of North Queensland Miss Show Girl and as one of the thirteen regional win
ners travelled to Brisbane to contest the Miss Show Girl State Title. Since becoming involved in the Miss Show Girl Competition, Melissa believes the competition is an ideal way for local young women to become involved in the largest Community Event in Cairns and an excellent opportunity to boost the self esteem and self confidence of competition entrants. Miss Show Girl 2010 The Miss Showgirl Awards are not a ‘beauty contest' - the focus is on young ladies wanting to boost their self esteem and confidence. It really is a great opportunity to network, meet new people, business representatives and dignitaries. Judges this year are looking for girls that have an engaging personality, charm and a strong sense of commu
nity spirit. The winner will then go on to represent Cairns at the regional Miss Show Girl Finals, this year to be hosted by Cairns Show Association. If successful at this level, she will travel to Brisbane and compete in the State Finals at EKKA. Young ladies 18 years and under 26 years, single, living in Queensland, lots of personality and some general knowledge about the Show are eligible to enter. This is a wonderful opportunity for a young lady to be an ambassador for Cairns Show Association. Throughout the year, the winner will need to be available to make guest appearances as well as attend the various events held at
the Cairns Show. So if you are interested or know of someone who would make an excellent ambassador, contact Margaret at the Cairns Show Association.
