For a Good Cause!
This year we are proud to announce the Cairns Show Auto Spectacular is helping support Malcolm Skelton's Team 2016 Tasman Row 4 FARA. Malcolm's wife Sarah has a rare progressive neurological disease called Friedreich Ataxia. It is a debilitating, life shortening condition for which there is no known treatment or cure.
Malcolm is on a mission to raise funds for research into treatments for Friedreich Ataxia, while increasing awareness for those with this fatal rare disease. Malcolm is going to row from Coffs Harbour, New South Wales, Australia across the Tasman Sea to New Plymouth, New Zealand on 29th October 2016. This will have him rowing a total distance of over 2500KM of open ocean (unassisted) and make him only the 9th person in the world to achieve this feat. The expected time to complete the crossing would be somewhere between 50 and 80 days, depending on weather conditions encountered during the crossing.
Congratulations to our winners:
